This one was challenging, I've never worked in B&W before so coming up with an idea was tough.

Another SWAP BOT!!  For the background, the tree bark is quite 3D.  I used white card stock and a wood grain embossing folder, then used distress ink and copic markers to color it.  Then put dabs of crackle accents to make it look like tree sap.

Again!! I made the first one (the flower one, and I didn't like it), so I made the one with the musical note, and liked it a lot better.

ATC Swap - Stained Glass

We were supposed to make an Artist Trading Card that looked like a stained glass window.

Ok, so I made the first one (the building) and I didn't like the way it came out.

SO I made the second one which I didn't love but it was better than the first, my partners will get 2 in this swap since.

I know 2 wrongs don't make a right, but by golly!! This one baffled me…

For the second one I ended up taking a punch and punched out a flower on glossy card stock, then cut up the flower into pieces, took each piece and dropped alcohol ink on each on in different colors (this caused some of the ink to "pool" at the edge of the piece which was good.  Then I pieced everything back together and used liquid pearls in silver as the "solder" in between the glass.  Then added glossy accents on one and crackle accents on the other to give it more of a glass look...it was more time consuming than it looks like.

The Artist Trading Card rules were that it should be inspired by your home town.

Toledo, WA is one of the "gateways" to Mount St Helens.  This barn is a historic landmark, I can see it from the end of my driveway.

"Color-fall" - My VERY FIRST Craft Tag & Tag swap

Been swapping ATC's for a couple of weeks now, but here is my first Craft Tag Swap.

I made this last night, and I love the fall colors.  I love swap-bot!

Yes, I started the blog thinking I would use it and never did.
Once I started scrapping and swapping, I thought I better resurrect the blog.

The 2nd ATC didn't come out as good as I'd hoped

But!!! Since it was an Artistically Challenged ATC, I can get away with it.
My swap partner reads a book a day, so I wanted to make it look like a book. She likes different shades of greens and listens to classical music, so I incorporated those ideas, it still didn't come out very artistic.  I sent it anyway since I already spent 2 hours on it...God I hope she likes it!!  This is actually the "copy" that I made to keep, I forgot to take a pic of hers before I sent it.  So hers will be a little bit nicer than this one.  I tore and distressed a piece of sheet music (my husband plays the Euphonium in a wind symphony), and die cut the music note, painted it with white acrylic, stamped it in black stazon and put a few coats of UTEE on it.  The "binding" of the book is some textured paper sprayed with Color wash sprays and then perfect pearls mist.  Anyway, I don't really draw, so my ATCs are more scrapbook style....

I need to go work on the summer trip scrapbook and get that guy finished!!!

My very first ATC swap

My swap partner likes Pandas so I incorporated one here.
The ATC (Artist Trading Card) had to have a puzzle piece on it.  So I used alcohol inks, stamped it and embossed it with UTEE.

 Now on to my next swap!!

Though I've done a few minis that you can view on You-Tube under TheKncLodge, I just joined my very first swap and this one is for an ATC, which I've never done either.  My assigned partner over at Swap-Bot has over 1000 swaps! I'm excited and a little nervous to get this right...

Scrapaholic

Yes, I've joined the ranks of those who are hooked on scrapping!!
After my hubby and I went on a trip around the country this summer, I decided that we needed a scrapbook.  There's where my journey and love for art begins... I never thought of myself as creative, I'm an accountant for goodness sake.  But once I got started on this scrapbook, I fell in love and have been making cards and mini albums, and now posters ever since. 

Gone Raw 12.3.10

Started raw food diet on 12.3.2010.
Lost 5 pounds in the first week and 4 in the second. This is fantastic considering that I was diagnosed with low thyroid a few years ago.  Losing weight is very hard for me.
Ok, this 3rd week I gained a couple, too much cooked food and stress with company and babysitting my friends insane dog! 
So far I am experiencing some detox, the first week it was just a runny nose.  The second week, I had bad gastro intestinal issues, including intermittent constipation and diarreah.  Things seem much better this week.
There is a lot of hit and miss experimenting getting the green smoothies to taste good, but I've managed to create a perfect raw hot chocolate recipe which I am enjoying so much.  And find that using bananas almost always makes a green smoothie taste good.
